Mailing for 7th January 2022
Letters Home (https://www.hwis.hants.sch.uk/letters-home/):
Welcome back to the start of the Spring term. We hope that you all had a great holiday. The children have been telling us all about their holidays and the different things that they got up to during the break.
From Tuesday 11th January, anyone that receives a positive LFD test must self isolate for 10 days but can return to school if they have a negative LFD test on days 6 and 7. There is no need to get a PCR test to confirm.
The red choice on Tuesday for Week 2 is changing from lemon chicken with rice to roast chicken with roast potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

In Year R this week we have been thinking all about Winter. We have made snowflakes using cotton buds, glue and glitter. We had great fun drawing in the frost and painting snowmen pictures in the corridor. We also went on a walk looking for signs of Winter.
It has been lovely to see all of the Year 1 children’s happy faces after the Christmas break! This week they have been busy learning the story Whatever Next. Ask them where Baby Bear went and how he got there. In maths the children have been comparing length using nonstandard measures like their own feet. The children have been looking at parts of a plant in science and labelling them. The concept word of the week is most.
In Year 2 the children were eager to tell us all about their Christmas holidays when they came back to school this week so we used the opportunity to write a recount about their favourite day of the holidays. In Maths we have been adding amounts to find the total cost of items and have started to ‘find the difference’ between different numbers. In Science we have been learning about different materials and have been finding items that are made from those materials.

General News and Information:
Please be advised that DFE guidance informs us that if a child displays any coronavirus symptom (cough, temperature or loss of taste/smell), we must send the child home and ask them to follow the guidance and get them a PCR test. The child must isolate until a negative result is given when they are able to return to school if they are well enough. If the result is positive they must isolate for 10 days but can return to school if they have a negative LFD test on days 6 and 7.
Remember that LFD testing is for people who are asymptomatic. If anyone within your household develops symptoms, you must book at PCR test by either phoning 119 or booking online: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
HC3S have launched a new parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Have a lovely weekend. J
Take care and stay safe.
