Thank you to all who completed the parent travel survey back in October. The results are really useful to us and we will be looking at the issues and suggestions raised. A main problem that came up on many responses was overgrown hedges. We as a school aren't able to do anything directly about this so would encourage you to report any overgrown hedges to the council. You can do this via this online page:
https://www.hants.gov.uk/transport/roadmaintenance/roadproblems/treehedge
We have also recently updated the 'Getting Here' page on our website which is now full of useful information and websites all around school travel. You will also find the same link as given above. Please check it out soon

We have received lot of questions regarding the dates for the Christmas performances and other Christmas activities so we have attached the letter that was sent in last weeks mailing again with this information on. We have also had requests for class lists, these are included in this mailing to help with Christmas cards.
The deadline to return your child’s choice for Christmas lunch (taking place on 12th December) is 5pm on 25th November due to ordering restrictions.
The deadline to order school photos is 1st December for delivery to school.
There are letters for the tombola, Christmas raffle, Christmas consent and Christmas Fayre flayer from FOHWIS, we have also included their letter from last week again.
Thank you very much for your generous donations today, we have collected £190.25 for Children in Need.
This week in Year R we have been thinking about toys and we have made detail drawings of them thinking carefully about the different shapes. We are looking forward to painting them with water colours next week. We had lots of fun on Monday making our very own toy catalogues. We cut out pictures and stuck them into our book and then we used our phonics sounds to label them. We have had great fun today making our own glitter Pudsey Bear’s and we have learnt all about Children In Need in assembly.
Maths Word of the Week: Short
Word of the Week: Glass
The children in Year 1 have been writing simple labels and sentences about Choco land this week. They have remembered to get all their writing tools to help them including pencils, finger spacers, sound mats and counters. We have been very impressed. In the maths the children have been solving simple addition problems and using bead strings, counters, tens frames and number lines to help them. The children also now know a song about the 5 oceans. This is part of our Geography tops. Ask them to sing it to you!
This week in English Year 2 have been writing their diary entries from the perspective of Rainbow Bear. We have been using the –ed suffix to write in past tense and thought about how we would feel if we really were Rainbow Bear. In Maths we learnt about number fact families and the meaning of commutative and inverse. In Science we learnt about food chains and thought about whether we are herbivores, carnivores or omnivores. In PSHE our focus was special people and we considered how all families have similarities and differences. The children have brought home their lines for the Christmas play and we would be very grateful if you could help your child practise their lines as often as possible. Children need to try to be able to say their lines ‘off by heart’ and with a clear, loud voice. Thank you for your help with this.

General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
