Letters Home (https://www.hwis.hants.sch.uk/letters-home/):
A huge thank you to our School Council who have finished their time in role. Leif, Lucy, Isabelle, Finlay, Max, Connie, Theo, Ellie, Ernie, Leah, Max, and Jaxon have met Mrs Boorman regularly and helped her to make decisions. A letter will come out soon to recruit the next School Council. This will be children in YR, 1 and 2.
The office staff have been inundated recently with emails and phone calls asking about day to day class based events. A thank you to those parents that check these queries on the door with the class staff or use the website. Please be aware that Parentmail, our email system, is checked a few times during the day so it is not always possible to provide a quick reply.

Year R have been thinking about our number bonds to 10 this week. The children have enjoyed exploring the different ways of making 10 using gingerbread men and buttons. They have had great fun constructing their own bridges for the Gingerbread Man to use to get across the river. The children have created missing posters to help the Little Old Lady find her missing Gingerbread Man. We have sent home a walk along Old Hatch Warren Lane for you to go on with your child before Wednesday morning, as part of their talk book this week, looking at the different types of houses and the materials they are made from. We have also had great fun learning the number bond song to 5 and 10 and have attached the links for the children to watch at home:

Word of the Week: shiny
Maths Word of the Week: after
Year 1 have been looking at the difference between a statement and a question this week and have been beginning to use question marks. They wanted to find out some more about ducks so wrote some questions to find the answers to. In maths, the children have been counting in steps of 2 and looking at things that come in pairs. In Science the children have been looking at animals and their babies and matching the correct animal names. The words of the week are udder and truthfully.
Year 2 This week we finished writing our story about Little Wolf in English and learnt about homophones in our SPAG (Spelling Punctuation and Grammar) lessons. Can your child explain what a homophone is? In Maths, we started our new shape topic and have been naming and describing the properties of 2D shapes. In Science, we continued our learning about healthy living by designing a healthy, balanced lunch and thinking about the effect of exercise on our body. We finished the week with a fun-filled, exciting visit to a nearby park in preparation for designing and making our own playgrounds. We thought about what equipment was in the park and then played on the different equipment.

General News and Information:
Please be advised that DFE guidance informs us that if a child displays any coronavirus symptom (cough, temperature or loss of taste/smell), we must send the child home and ask them to follow the guidance and get them a PCR test. The child must isolate until a negative result is given when they are able to return to school if they are well enough. If the result is positive they must isolate for 10 days but can return to school if they have a negative LFD test on days 5 and 5 and do not have a temperature.
Remember that LFD testing is for people who are asymptomatic. If anyone within your household develops symptoms, you must book at PCR test by either phoning 119 or booking online: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

HC3S have launched a new parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
Please remember to update the office if your contact details change. We have had a few cases of having wrong addresses where parents have forgotten to tell us they have moved! You can send an email to parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk or click the link and complete pupil change of details form https://www.hwis.hants.sch.uk/general-forms/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Have a lovely weekend. J
Take care and stay safe.
