The children in Year R have loved being scientists this week, investigating what would have happened if the Gingerbread Man had swum across the river. They have loved retelling the story and eating Gingerbread Men at story time. We have loved listening to the children’s puppet shows you should be so proud of them. Have a lovey weekend.

We have had a lovely week in Year 1 and have been lucky enough to watch 5 baby ducklings hatch. The children have been very excited to watch them play. In English we have been writing clues about animals that hatch from eggs. Ask your child some of the baby names. In Maths we have been learning about mass, weight, capacity and volume. The children have been comparing using greater and less than.

This week Year 2 have been writing their own Little Wolf story and learnt how to use speech marks. In Maths we began learning about fractions of shapes and have looked at halves, quarters, two quarters and three quarters. In the afternoons we designed, made and evaluated playgrounds. General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
