Welcome back after the Jubilee half term.  We have had a very busy week in school!! Thank you for your understanding with our phone line being down. We have been told it may not be fixed until Thursday next week. As an interim fix, we do have a school mobile that can be called in an emergency.  The number is: 07436 987045. This week Year R have been thinking about ‘learning from stories’ as part of our R.E topic for this half-term.  The children have made their own wanted posters about the ‘Lost Sheep’.  Please let us know if you see any on the loose!  In Maths this week we have been thinking about doubling numbers 1 to 5, please practice these doubles with your children at home.

The Year 1 children have had a very exciting first week back, we are really proud of how they have performed in the phonics screening this week. We have been exploring half and quarter of different shapes. After learning so much about knights we pretended to be knights and wrote a diary from a knights very busy day. In preparation for our cooking week we have thought about how to make a nutritious healthy kebab. Our words of the week have been gauntlet and nutrition.

Welcome back!! This week Year 2 received a letter from a young girl called Rose who needed our help to solve a dilemma. We are now writing a letter back to her. In Maths, we have been measuring length, weight and capacity. We even measured out different volumes of drinks to make summer cocktails!! In the afternoon we have started learning about plants and seasides.

General Reminders:

• As the weather warms up and you start to buy sun care products for your family, please be aware that some of these products contain nuts in their ingredients. We have a number of children in school with nut allergies so please check the ingredients list carefully before you make your purchase. We advise parents to apply sun cream before sending your child into school. On really warm days, the children can re-apply using wipes or a roll on sun cream. Please do not send in liquid sun cream.
• Please can we also ask that children are wearing shoes and socks rather than sandals to school as a matter of safety. 
• School dinners – please check that your child likes one of the three options available daily, as we have had some children saying that they can’t pick an option as they don’t like any of them. If they don’t like any option, please provide a packed lunch. The kitchen staff are only able to offer what is on the menu.
• Please DO NOT send your child in to school dosed up on Calpol. If they are unwell they should rest and get better at home. Sending children that are unwell in to school is making some of our staff ill and unable to be in school.
• Head bump letters are changing from red paper to a mustard yellow colour to make them easier to see in book bags.
• The play equipment must not be used before or after school as our insurance is not valid.

• Please remember to update the office if your contact details change. We have had a few cases of having wrong addresses where parents have forgotten to tell us they have moved! • Children to come into school wearing their PE kits on the days they have PE (Year R – Thurs, Year 1 – Mon & Wed, Year 2 – Tues & Thurs).
• We are a nut free school but are also becoming a shellfish free school due to staff and child allergies. Please do not send shellfish or nut products within your child’s packed lunch.

HC3S have launched a parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically.  If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
