What a busy week we have had in Year R. What a lot of new things we have started this week! We have all had a turn playing in the corridor and learning the woodwork rules. We have had great fun learning some new sounds in Supersonic Phonics. A link to the sounds will be sent out via text later. We have also been playing football in the paddock area and using the water wall. The children have really enjoyed sharing their Talk Books with the class this week. All the children are very excited to be bringing their Fluffy Word boxes and wordless books home this weekend. Have a lovely weekend.
In Year 1 the children have been busy learning about pirate objects this week and have also been role playing some jobs they may have been asked to do on a pirate ship including scrubbing the deck and climbing the rigging. They have been fantastic pirates! In maths the children have been looking at place value and counting using objects and numbers. The children have been learning about materials in science and searching for objects made out of metal, wood, plastic and fabric. What can they find at home? The word of the week is few.
This week in Year 2 we thought about what sentences need to have and what we can use to make them more interesting. We then wrote some sentences about the rainforest. In Maths we used our knowledge of place value to compare and order numbers to 100. In Science we started our new ‘habitats’ topic, in Music we learnt about the difference between beat and rhythm and in PE we continued to develop our circus dance. We are looking forward to our trip to the Living Rainforest next week.

General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
