Can we please remind parents of the following:
Please ensure that you DO NOT send Nivea sun cream into school with your child (it may contain Nut oil).
We had exciting news this week in Year R the giant egg has finally hatched and inside was a time travelling Triceratops. You will be pleased to hear that he has returned safely back where he belongs. The children have been thinking about what they would like to find out about dinosaurs and have come up with their own questions. In math’s this week we have read the story Meg’s Eggs and the children have enjoyed acting it out using the language take away, minus, subtract, equals. Ladybird Class have cooked chocolate cake in oranges on the fire.
Maths word of the week: half
Topic Word of the week: fierce
In Year 1 we have learnt about parts of a castle this week and the children leant to match captions to the right pictures. It was important for them to understand the reason why the caption has to match the correct picture. Ask them what they have found out. In maths we have been learning about fractions. This has followed on from the children’s knowledge of multiplication and division and we have used practical activities to support their understanding. We have continued our history topic looking at queens throughout History. The word of the week is ramparts.
This week Year 2 have been working on our reading comprehension skills in English and have been recapping our learning so far in Maths. In History we started learning about Isambard Kingdom Brunel and discovered what he is famous for. Can your child tell you any facts they have learnt so far? In PE the children had lots of fun learning a country dance routine.

General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
