This week in Year R the children have been history detectives. They have enjoyed exploring artefacts from the past and trying to think about what they might have been used for. They have dressed up in Victorian clothes and thought about what it would have been like to go to school a long time ago. They have also explored toys from the past and thought about the differences between toys now and then. Poor Old Bear has been stuck in the attic and the children have come up with plans to rescue him. Today they have put their plans into action but we are waiting to see if they have worked. We have been working hard on our Christmas plays and can’t wait for you to see them next week. We have put up a timetable on our windows for the next two weeks, please feel to come and take a photo of it. Have a lovely weekend.
Maths Word of the Week: Paper
Word of the Week: Large
The children in Year 1 are looking forward to sharing their Christmas plays with you all next week! They have been working incredibly hard on their songs and dances and we are all very proud of their efforts. In between rehearsals we have been writing setting descriptions for Santa’s Grotto using simple adjectives to describe. In maths, the children have been looking at 2d shapes and naming them and we ended with a shape hunt outside which the children and adults thoroughly enjoyed. In Geography we have visited another 3 continents Asia, South America and Australia. The children have added their stickers to their passports to show the continents they have visited. They have one left to visit next week!
The word of the week is sweet.
In this week we have been very busy practicing for our Christmas play that we are really excited to perform for you next week. We hope you will enjoy it! We have gone art crazy in Year 2 this week. The children have been painting their clay penguins and bringing them to life. We have also started working on some items that will be for sale at the Christmas fair, the children have put lots of thought and hard work into them.

General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
