Could we please remind parents who park in the school car park to park considerately and you should only be using the school car park if you have been given permission to do so. Please do NOT walk through/across the carpark, follow the path around the edge to access the playground, this is for your safety and that of your children. The gate by the Year 2 corridor/hall door by the car park will now be locked at 8:30 am.
This week in Year R we have carried on thinking all about Fire Fighters. We did some fantastic writing where we had to label a Fire Engine. We had another very exciting visitor come and see us today in school. Sergeant Clarke came to see us and even brought his squad car for us all to look at! He told us all about what it's like to work for the Police and how they help people. We will be thinking more about the Police next week. We are very proud of our Year R children, as this week all three classes finished their Charters and had a treat! We had lots of fun this afternoon doing the activities the children voted for.
Maths Word of the Week: early
Word of the Week: Kind
The children in Year 1 have been learning about what it is like to be an astronaut and how you live in a rocket and the international space station. They were very lucky to join a live lesson from a space station and join in activities with a space engineer, astronaut and the first British female astronaut! In math we have been learning number doubles up to 20 in lots of fun practical ways and seeing if they can solve missing number problems. The children have been using their creativity to decorate their alien toys and are very proud of the results, they can’t wait to bring them home!
Year 2 started the week by learning about Tudor houses in preparation for designing and making our own. On Tuesday we had lots of fun making our houses then had mixed emotions about burning them to recreate the Great Fire of London. It was quite windy so we were able to see how the wind fanned the flames just like it did during the real event. In Maths we have been learning how to ‘find the difference’ by counting on or back. We will use this knowledge to help us calculate change.

General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
