Today we had a whole school assembly for Harvest Festival and all the children enjoyed some shared bread to celebrate. A big thank you for all the food and toiletries donated to school today, the Food Bank have been and collected them this afternoon and have advised all donations weighed an amazing 226.8 Kg. This week we raised an £110 on Hello Yellow Monday, again thank you very much for your wonderful donations.
Reminder, please return any filled and wrapped shoeboxes by Thursday 20 October, if you would still like a box we have some in the school office.
This week in Year R we have been thinking about capacity in maths and whether the tallest container held the most liquid. We have also been looking at the numbers 3 and 4 and the different ways to make those numbers. We have learnt 4 new sounds this week, please watch the videos where we show you exactly how to pronounce the sounds. For the Talk Book this week we have asked you to go on an autumn walk, if you could take a bag with you and gather some leaves to bring in on Monday that would help with our Autumn art project. We look forward to seeing you on Monday afternoon at 2.50pm in the hall for our singing and signing event. Have a lovely weekend.
Maths Word of the Week: full
Topic Word of the Week: alike
The children have had another busy week this week in Year 1. They have been writing leaflets for Ken from Openbox. He needed help as he couldn’t remember all the information about the Titanic and he was due to go to another school. He tasked the children to make some leaflets to help him and they did an amazing job! In maths the children have been looking at the greater than and less than symbols. Can your child show you at home? We think they look a little bit like crocodile teeth. Don’t forget our parent event is on Tuesday morning and we are very much looking forward to seeing you to help create our very own shoe box Titanic. The word of the week is whole.
In Year 2 we started the week with Hello Yellow activities and thought about the importance of looking after our minds as well as our bodies. In English we wrote our own poems about the rainforest and worked hard to use adventurous vocabulary to make our poems really interesting. In Maths we continued our work on addition and then used our knowledge to solve problems. In the afternoons the children used different mediums to produce some fantastic tiger artwork. We also learnt about different world habitats in Science.

General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
