Year R have had another busy week this week. The children have looked at all the results from our Sunflower competition and the winners have been awarded prizes in Smiley assembly this week. We measured our school sunflower this week and it is measuring at 227 cm. The children enjoyed watching the Year 2 Leavers Concert on Thursday and meeting their new teachers. The children are coming home today with an All About Me sheet from their new teachers. Please can you complete it with them and bring it back in Monday morning. We would like to take this opportunity to wish you and your family a wonderful summer break. It has been a pleasure working with you all. Many thanks.
Year 1 have had a lovely penultimate this week and are still working very hard. We have had a geography based day this week learning about the United Kingdom. We travelled to each capital city throughout the day learning about famous landmarks, specific food and culture. The children and the adults thoroughly enjoyed themselves. In maths we have been learning about time and creating our own clocks. We have been practicing telling the time to o’clock and next week we will be learning about half past. Don’t forget to ensure your child has returned their school reading book if they have not already.
This week Year 2 children performed their leavers assembly for their grown ups and the whole school. We were all very proud of them and hope you enjoyed the performance as much as we did. On Thursday the children had a visit to Hatch Warren Junior school to spend time in their new class with their new adults. They also spent time with the Year 5 children who will become a familiar face to them when they start there in September. We can’t quite believe that their time in the infant school is almost over but we know that they are ready for the next step on their school adventure.

General Reminders:
General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
