Please remember to send your child into school with a named sun hat, water bottle and named sun cream. The sun cream must be a roll on or wipes as the children need to apply it themselves.
Please remember to complete the Sports Day form before 21 June 9am that was in last weeks mailing.
This week in Year R we have started our art project which we will be selling on Tuesday 27th June and they are already looking stunning. In maths this week we have been thinking about sharing. The children enjoyed the story The Doorbell Rang and have been working out how many different ways they could share twelve cookies fairly. We have been thinking about minibeasts and what they might be. This week in Fab Funky Friday we have been paddling in our foot spas as we decided it was too hot for a fire! Have a lovely weekend.

We have had another busy week in Year 1 and have been enjoying the sunshine. The children have been learning about ‘The Great Big Green Week’ and how it is important to look after our world. Ask your child to tell you all of their ideas on how to do this- we were very impressed! In maths we have been learning about position and direction. We started the week by dancing to the cha cha slide and have used directions language to follow instructions. In PE we have started practising for sports day, which the children are very excited about.
The word of the week is aerial view.
This week Year 2 have been learning about instructions. They learnt how important it is for instructions to be clear and detailed or things can go wrong! The children spent time following instructions and identified key features of instructions in different texts. They then read a funny story called ‘How To Wash a Wooly Mammoth’ and sequenced the instructions from the book. In Maths, Year 2 have learnt how to measure length, weight and capacity using standard units of measurement. In the afternoons they looked at different seaside resorts and plotted them on a map of the UK. The children also started learning about Victorian seasides and thought about what was different compared to seasides today.

General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
