Reminder school is closed to children tomorrow Friday 26th May as it is an Inset Day.
Hope you have a lovely half term break and we look forward to seeing you all back on Monday 5th June.
Wow what an amazing week we have had! The children in Year R have loved every minute of learning all about dinosaurs. The highlights of this week have been making pizzas, meeting Dino Girl and setting up our own wonderful museums. The children impressed Dino Girl with their fantastic knowledge and we were very proud of the children as Dino Girl fed back how wonderfully behaved they were. We had a brilliant finish to our half-term with outdoor learning day. It was Butterflies turn to make chocolate orange cakes on the fire, Ladybird class visited the pond and all the children went on a hunt for dinosaurs.

Year 1 have has a very very busy week and so have the teachers! The week started with trips to QMC, where the children learnt about germs. They learn a lot and thoroughly enjoyed themselves. On Wednesday the children took part in castle day, which involved medieval dancing, knight training, dragon craft and a feast! Thank you to all of the parents who came in with the children. We ended the week with outdoor learning day. We were lucky with the weather and the children had a lovely day. We hope you have a restful and relaxing half term!
This week Year 2 have been looking at a new book called ‘Journey’ by Aaron Becker. It is a wordless picture book about a girl who goes on a magical journey. Their task was to use present tense sentences to describe what was happening in the pictures. We realised that writing in present tense can be quite tricky! In Maths we have been telling the time to o’clock, half past, quarter past and quarter to. It would be really helpful if the children could continue to practise telling the time at home and think about what they do at different times of the day. In History the children used their knowledge of Isambard Kingdom Brunel to complete a fact file about him. We ended the week having lots of fun during a sunny Outdoor Learning Day. Year 2 children made bird kites, played parachute games and used big build equipment to make an array of imaginative constructions including bridges and tunnels. We hope you all have a wonderful half term break and look forward to seeing you when we return.

General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
