This morning the children took part in an assembly of Remembrance where they observed a 2 minute silence and thought about the soldiers and happy times. We had a special visitor Mr Wassell, a school governor who spoke to the children about his experience in the army. The children were all amazing and very respectful.
Today the children will be coming home with a box of raisins for the Fund-raisin challenge. There is a little note on the boxes saying “take me home to eat then fill up with as many coins as you can fit in me.” Please return the boxes by 25 November. The date to order from Class fundraising (Christmas cards) has been extended to 19th November. Reminder if you would like your child to have the Flu vaccine next week in school, please complete the consent that was sent earlier this week.
On Friday 18th November it is Children in Need, the children can come to school dressed up as a superhero or in their PJ’s, more information to follow.
We are looking at revising our lunch time arrangements from Monday next week to try and make lunch times run more smoothly.
We have received a call this week regarding the parking in the residential areas around the school. Could we please ask you to park with care and be considerate to the local residents and ensure that roads are not blocked. There has also been a case of children running across the road to a waiting parked car (they may not have been infant school children) but please make sure your children are supervised and safe and that you drive slowly.
This week in Year R we have been thinking about the different materials things are made from (wood, metal, plastic, fabric and glass). We looked carefully at some toys and sorted them into groups. We have been thinking about the number 5 this week and have been giving each other high fives. We were very excited to have our first Fab Funky Friday this week and enjoyed playing with the Big Build. Have a wonderful weekend.
Maths Word of the Week: long
Topic Word of the Week: plastic
The children in Year 1 have been busy this week writing poems about chocolate. We were impressed by their ideas. In maths the children have continued to learn about addition and number bonds. This week they have been trying to find all the number bonds to 10 by being systematic. In Geography, we have been naming the 7 continents of the world- just ask them to sing you the continents song to you! We finished off the week with a remembrance assembly and a 2-minute silence. The children were amazing at listening and were very respectful.
The word of the week is taste buds.
This week in English, the children in Year 2 have read a little more of the ‘Rainbow Bear’ story and have begun writing a diary entry based on what happened to the character so far. In maths, we have carried on working on our number bonds to 10 and 20. We started learning some songs for our Christmas play in music and we had a go at some Arctic Yoga in PE!

General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
