Thank you again for your understanding on Tuesday regarding the school closure for Industrial action.
Reminder the play equipment must not be used before or after school – our insurance is not valid. Children have been told that if they are caught using the play equipment before or after school, they will lose dojo points.
This week in Year R we have been learning all the Coronation of King Charles III. The children have decorated crowns and bookmarks. The have also made cards for King Charles and Mrs Weston has posted them to him at Buckingham Palace.
We have had a lot of children coming into school on Fab Funky Friday wearing unsuitable clothing. Please ensure your child has a waterproof coat, trainers, no dresses or skirts. Please can long hair be tied up.
Maths word of the week: enormous
Topic Word of the week: odd
In Year 1 we have been thinking about what questions marks are used for in English this week. The children have come up with their own questions about castles that they would like to find out about this half term. They came up with some brilliant ideas! In maths we have been continuing to develop our knowledge of counting in steps of 2, 5 and 10. We have looked at pictorial representations, repeated addition and ‘lots of’ questions to secure our understanding. In History we asked the children a question. Is Mrs Boorman a queen if she wears a crown? We had some very interesting discussions. Year 1 finished off the week by making bunting and crowns for the coronation. The word of the week is portcullis.
It’s been a short week this week but we’ve managed to fit lots in! In Year 2 we continued our Dreamgiver story writing in English and learnt how to use an unstructured number line for subtraction in Maths. We’ve spent time learning about the King’s Coronation and completed lots of related activities. We also made special bunting and crowns and finished the week with a street party lunch.

General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
