Well what a busy week in Year R! On Monday we had a visit from Dino Girl she taught us lots of interesting facts about dinosaurs, we made our own fossils, pretended to be palaeontologists by completing a sand dig and learnt how to walk like a T-Rex. On Wednesday we celebrated the Queen’s jubilee with a Year R lunch in the hall, we had a lovely tea party with delicious food provided by the kitchen staff. We sang songs and waved our flags. We also went on a tour of London with William Whiskerson (lots of lovely tours are available on YouTube). Today we celebrated outdoor learning day. Bumblebees made waffles at the fire, Ladybirds went to the pond and saw lots of fish. We also went on a dinosaur hunt, painted chalk pictures and explored the STEM area. Have a wonderful half-term and enjoy the extra bank holiday.
Word of the Week: delicate
Maths Word of the Week: first
The Year 1 children have had a very busy week! On Tuesday the children took part in castles day. We had a fun packed day of knight training, medieval dancing, crown making and finished off with an amazing banquet. On Wednesday we celebrated the Queen’s Jubilee with a fantastic lunch. We waved flags and sang songs to mark the occasion. On Thursday we took part in outdoor learning day. Luckily the weather was on our side and the children enjoyed painting, making silly sentences and parachute games.
It’s been a busy eventful week in Year 2. On Monday we had a visit from a GIST HGV lorry. We learnt about road safety and we all got to sit in the driver’s seat. On Tuesday we all had a charter treat as a reward for all our hard work. On Wednesday we learnt about the Queen’s jubilee, made crowns and flags then had a special jubilee lunch. We loved the crown shaped biscuits! We finished the week with outdoor learning day. We made bird kites, we constructed bridges from big build equipment and we used outdoor natural resources to create paintings. We hope you all have a wonderful half term break and we look forward to seeing you all when we return.

HC3S have launched a parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Have a lovely half term. J
Take care and stay safe.
