The Year R children have been practicing hard for sports day this week. They have really enjoyed the running races and the egg and spoon. The children have had great fun playing in the STEM area looking for insects and thinking about the habitats different minibeasts prefer.
Word of the week: examine
Maths word of the week: full
The Year 1 children have had another busy week. In English they have been looking at story setting and writing a forest description to improve the beginning of The Highway Rat. They have come up with some amazing noun phrases. In maths the children have been recognizing half past on the clock and looking at the minute hand to tell the time. We have ended the week with our amazing sports day- what a fantastic morning! It was lovely to see so many parents come and support. Our word of the week is route.
This week in Year 2 we used packets of skittles to investigate a real life problem. Can your child tell you what they found out from the investigation? In English we looked at instructions. We learnt how things can go wrong if your instructions aren’t clear and then wrote our own detailed instructions about how to make a sandwich. Next week we are going to follow them to make our sandwiches. In the afternoons we started learning some new songs for our leavers assembly and practiced our Sports Day activities.
