Wow what an exciting week in Year R! The children thoroughly enjoyed their zoom meeting with Petr Horáček and have come up with some exciting activities for us to do based around his books. They have enjoyed drawing with Rob listening really carefully to his instructions. We have attached the link to his channel in case they would like do some at home https://youtu.be/bhyCxVPb1qU Word of the Week: soft. Maths Word of the Week: few.
It has been lovely to see all of the Year 1 children’s happy faces after the half term break. We have had an exciting start to this half term with creative weeks in full swing. The children looked brilliant in their costumes yesterday and enjoyed telling their class why they had chosen that character. Each class have chosen to do some different creative activities- ask them what they have been up to! The words of the week our combine harvester and belong.
Year 2 started the week with a zoom call from the author Petr Horacek. After the meeting, the children were asked what they would like to do for Creative Fortnight. They decided they would like to make their own story books, do some artwork linked to the stories we have been reading and bring in their favourite books from home to read with their friends. So the children have started writing their very own stories and have learnt how to draw different animals. We’ve certainly got some budding young authors and artists in Year 2! In Maths we have learnt how fractions and division is linked and we have been calculating fractions of numbers pictorially and mentally. You will receive a text to let you know which day next week the children can bring in their favourite book from home.

General News and Information:
Please be advised that DFE guidance informs us that if a child displays any coronavirus symptom (cough, temperature or loss of taste/smell), we must send the child home and ask them to follow the guidance and get them a PCR test. The child must isolate until a negative result is given when they are able to return to school if they are well enough. If the result is positive they must isolate for 10 days but can return to school if they have a negative LFD test on days 5 and 5 and do not have a temperature.
Remember that LFD testing is for people who are asymptomatic. If anyone within your household develops symptoms, you must book at PCR test by either phoning 119 or booking online: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

HC3S have launched a new parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Have a lovely weekend. J
Take care and stay safe.
