Letters Home (https://www.hwis.hants.sch.uk/letters-home/):
We have received updated guidance from the government which is to be implemented today. It says that anyone with a positive Covid test will be advised to stay at home and avoid contact with other people for 5 days, which is when they are the most infectious. You will be aware that the universal offer of free Covid testing comes to an end today but we ask that, where possible, parents test their children if they are showing signs of Covid.
Government advice currently indicates that children who are unwell and have a high temperature should stay at home and avoid contact with people where possible. Children can return to school when they no longer have a high temperature and are well enough to attend. This will hopefully minimise the spread of the virus and help us to keep our school community safe. Please do not send children in if they are unwell and if they have had Calpol. We thank you in advance for your support!
Please remember that the Easter Egg Hunt and Fair is taking place after school on Monday. Please also note that the cake sale has been postponed. Please do not send in any cakes.
Please remember to update the office if your contact details change. We have had a few cases of having wrong addresses where parents have forgotten to tell us they have moved! We also need to see proof of new address for our records. You can send an email to parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk or click the link and complete pupil change of details form https://www.hwis.hants.sch.uk/general-forms/

Year R have had great fun retelling the story of the Three Little Pigs this week and thinking about the different materials houses are made from. We have also been exploring number bonds to ten using the story One to Ten and Back Again. The children’s puppet shows have thoroughly entertained us. The children enjoyed the exciting visit to Milestones. They were beautifully behaved and we can’t wait to hear their responses in their Talk books this week.
Word of the Week: bendy
Maths Word of the Week: early
Year 1 have been busy writing riddles about animals that hatch from eggs. Ask them if they can think of some clues. Can you guess the animal they are thinking of? In maths the children have been counting in 5s. They used their hands to help them see the pattern. In DT the children have been looking at sliders and levers so they can make a moving picture. The words of the week are cockerel and drifted.
Year 2 - This week we continued to develop our story writing skills by writing a story about a fascinating creature called Dreamgiver. We made our stories interesting by using different sentence starters, amazing adjectives, adventurous adverbs and a wide range of conjunctions. In Maths we learnt about symmetry and used our knowledge of 2D shapes to solve reasoning problems. Following on from our exciting visit to the park last week, in DT (Design and Technology) we learnt how to use art straws and masking tape to make swings, slides and climbing frames. We then designed our own playground and used the skills we had learnt to make it. In Music we used xylophones to demonstrate pitch.

HC3S have launched a new parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Have a lovely weekend. J
Take care and stay safe.
