In Year R, the children have been thinking about super heroes this week and have had great fun painting their own, thinking carefully about its super powers. The children thoroughly enjoyed having a police car on site on Wednesday and listening to the sirens. They came up with some super questions to ask P.C Clarke.
What an exciting week Year 1 have had. They have been exploring capacity in maths and have used different containers to compare how much each one will hold. They have been using language such as full, empty and half full. In English, the children have looked at the story How to catch a star by Oliver Jeffers. They have created their own story maps to help them re-write the story which has been a lot of fun. The children have been exploring forces in science and looking at how to move objects using pushes and pulls. The words of the week are night, planets and journey.
This week Year 2 were visited by Ken and Ian from Openbox and we had lots of fun learning about the Great Fire of London with them. We also made our own bread! In English we used rhyming words to write a rhyming poem about the Great Fire of London. In Maths we have started our new topic which is multiplication and have learnt about arrays. In the afternoon we went on an outdoor material hunt and learnt how to keep ourselves safe in our homes.

General News and Information:
Please be advised that DFE guidance informs us that if a child displays any coronavirus symptom (cough, temperature or loss of taste/smell), we must send the child home and ask them to follow the guidance and get them a PCR test. The child must isolate until a negative result is given when they are able to return to school if they are well enough. If the result is positive they must isolate for 10 days but can return to school if they have a negative LFD test on days 6 and 7.
Remember that LFD testing is for people who are asymptomatic. If anyone within your household develops symptoms, you must book at PCR test by either phoning 119 or booking online: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
HC3S have launched a new parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Have a lovely weekend. J
Take care and stay safe.
