This week in Year R we have been learning all about Autumn. The children have been on an autumn walk and made their own autumn picture using the leaves we all collected. We have been thinking about pattern in Maths this week and made our own repeating pattern bracelets. We also used musical instruments to create our own patterns too. Today in P.E we had great fun playing parachute games. You should all be so proud of your children and how well they have settled into school this half term. We hope you all have a wonderful half-term break.
Maths Word of the Week: heavy.
Topic Word of the Week: wood.
The children in Year 1 have thoroughly enjoyed having our special visitors this week to assist them in creating an amazing shoebox Titanic. Thank you to all of the parents that came in to help! In maths the children have been using counters to help them write addition number sentences and whole part parts. We hope you have a lovely half term and we look forward to seeing you in a week!
In Year 2 this week we learnt about Brazil and considered similarities and differences between Brazil and England. We also finished our Henri Rousseau inspired art work by putting all the different components together. In Maths we moved on to subtraction. We started our learning by thinking about one less and ten less than numbers, then we used number lines to solve subtraction questions. In PE we created a dance all about rainforest animals and in PSHE we focused on being thankful and being mindful. We hope you all have a wonderful half term break and we look forward to seeing you when we return.

General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
