Thank you for your understanding yesterday regarding the school closure for Industrial action.
We now have Google Translate on our website (on the home page) if your need to view in a different language.
Reminder that Monday 1st May is a Bank holiday so there will be no school and the school will be closed on Tuesday 2nd May due to Industrial action (Your child may attend if you have already received a text to confirm they can). We look forward to seeing you all on Wednesday 3rd May.
In Year R an egg has appeared in our STEM area this week and the children have been thinking carefully about what could be inside. They have been to the library and used google to help them with their ideas. They have also been thinking about how to care for the egg and help it to hatch. Today we have started thinking about the Coronation nd have been making some coronation bunting to put in the hall. Next week we will be learning all about King Charles and his Coronation. We will be making crowns and writing cards to send off to Buckingham Palace.
Word of week: sharp
Maths word of the week: even
In Year 1 we have had a postcard from the giant this week explaining how upset he was about Jack taking his harp and cutting down the beanstalk. The children discussed whether actually Jack may have been in the wrong. They then produced a wanted poster for the giant to help find Jack and get his harp back. The children came up with some amazing noun phrases to describe Jack. In maths the children have been understanding the terms equal groups and unequal groups. This has been helping them to understand how an array can be used to counting in multiples. They have used equipment and drawing to support their learning. In PE the children will be learning medieval dance ready for Castle day. They are very excited.
In Year 2 this week we started writing our own story about an interesting character called Dreamgiver. In Maths we’ve been solving additions by using both an unstructured number line and the Smile method. In History we thought about what the word ‘famous’ means and in PE we learnt a dance routine for the Waka Waka song.

General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
