This week in Year R we have been thinking about signs of new life and spring. The children have been making artwork for our corridor display. The children had a visit from the Year 1 ducklings and have enjoyed watching the tadpoles in the Year R corridor, they have got so big! They have enjoyed decorating eggs and making Easter cards. As part of Fab Funky Friday today we have made chocolate Easter nests. We wish you and your family a wonderful Easter break.
In Year 1 we have had a very busy last week of term! On Tuesday we took the children to the farm. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves, as did the adults. The adults at the farm that ran the workshops commented on how polite and respectful our children were and we are very proud of them! We have also had the ducklings visiting the classrooms, which has allowed the children to understand how to look after them and keep them safe. In Science we have been looking at the life cycle of a ducking and learning new facts. At the end of the week children used their plans in DT to make farm sliders. We hope you have a lovely Easter holidays and a well-deserved rest.
This week Year 2 finished writing their Little Wolf stories in English and learnt how to calculate fractions of quantities in different ways in Maths. We designed and made toasted sandwiches and really enjoyed cooking them on the fire. We also had a special visit from a firefighter who taught us about fire safety. We hope you all have a great Easter break and we’ll look forward to seeing you when we return.

General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
