Letters Home (https://www.hwis.hants.sch.uk/letters-home/):
As the weather warms up and you start to buy sun care products for your family, please be aware that some of these products contain nuts in their ingredients. We have a number of children in school with nut allergies so please check the ingredients list carefully before you make your purchase. We advise parents to apply sun cream before sending your child into school. On really warm days, the children can re-apply using wipes or a roll on sun cream. Please do not send in liquid sun cream.
Please can we also ask that although it is now summer term, it is important that children are wearing shoes and socks rather than sandals to school as a matter of safety.
School dinners – please check that your child likes one of the three options available daily, as we have had some children saying that they can’t pick an option as they don’t like any of them. If they don’t like any option, please provide a packed lunch. The kitchen staff are only able to offer what is on the menu.

This week Year R have designed and made their own pizzas for dinosaurs. They decided if they wanted to make a pizza for a herbivore, carnivore or omnivore. They really enjoyed eating their pizzas after they had been cooked. In maths this week we have been looking at odd and even numbers. The children had cabbages to share between two dinosaurs to see if the number was odd or even. They really enjoyed exploring the numbers.
Word of the Week: fossil
Maths Word of the Week: double
The Year 1 children have been learning about parts of a castle this week and writing captions to explain what each part is. Ask them if they can tell you what the moat was used for! In maths the children have been using division to share in to equal parts. They have used equipment and pictures to help work out their answers. In Science the children have completed a double bubble map looking at the similarities and differences between themselves and their friends.
Our words of the week are royal and wandered.
This week, Year 2 children have been working hard completing their end of Key Stage One SATs (Standard Assessment Tests). We have been very impressed with how sensible and focused the children have been during this time. The children have also been busy designing and making their own moving vehicles. We had lots of fun seeing how far everyone’s vehicles travelled and we finished off the week with our special mechanics day today.

HC3S have launched a parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Have a lovely weekend. J
Take care and stay safe.
