Letters Home (https://www.hwis.hants.sch.uk/letters-home/):
Welcome back from the Easter break. We hope you had a restful time and enjoyed the warm weather.
Thank you for the kind words given to Mrs Moore regarding her retirement. She has enjoyed some time in school with the children this week and will be back to visit at the start of the Circus event. She will also come in for a celebration assembly with the staff and children next week. We will all miss Mrs Moore and her sense of fun but wish her well as she moves on.
As the weather warms up and you start to buy sun care products for your family, please be aware that some of these products contain nuts in their ingredients. We have a number of children in school with nut allergies so please check the ingredients list carefully before you make your purchase. We advise parents to apply sun cream before sending your child into school. On really warm days, the children can re-apply using wipes or a roll on sun cream. Please do not send in liquid sun cream.

Letter from HWJS (paper copy)
A giant egg appeared on the Year R playground on Tuesday morning. The children have had great fun investigating what could be inside the egg. This morning the egg has hatched and we have been busy trying to spot the creature. Please keep your eyes peeled and let us know if you see anything suspicious! The children also enjoyed their first year group P.E session on the field and have been out in the big playground at lunchtimes with the rest of the school.
Word of the Week: sharp.
Maths Word of the Week: even.
The Year 1 children have settled back into school nicely and have been excited to tell the adults what they did over the Easter Break. In English the children have been learning the story of Jack and Beanstalk and have written speech bubbles for the characters. They wowed us with their ideas. In Maths the children have been learning doubles to 20. We used equipment and games to help us. We have just started our Queens topic in history and will be thinking about the question- Is Mrs Boorman a queen if she wears a crown? Our words of the week are turret and character.
It’s been lovely seeing the Year 2 children back in school this week. In English they wrote a recount about their favourite Easter break activities. In Maths the children learnt how to partition two-digit numbers into different combinations of tens and ones. They have also learnt how to add two-digit numbers together using the ‘smile’ method. Can they show you what the smile method is? Our new Science topic is forces and we have had a lot of fun exploring forces using scooters, bikes, skateboards, balls and toy cars.

HC3S have launched a parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Have a lovely weekend. J
Take care and stay safe.
