Letters Home (https://www.hwis.hants.sch.uk/letters-home/):
Parents evenings have been a great success this week. Thank you for attending and sharing the progress your child/ren are making. Thank you to the parents of Bumblebee Class for being so understanding about your appointments being next Wednesday due to Mrs Lambell’s rather sudden, unexpected departure. We are pleased to say that she is now home with baby Nate and they are both doing well. She popped in to school today and we’ve all enjoyed meeting him and having a little cuddle!!
FOHWIS update – 2’s challenge for 22.2.22 raised £519.16. A HUGE well done to Lewis B in Butterfly Class who raised £170 completing a 2 mile sponsored scoot and also to Reuben P-R in Butterfly Class who raised £216.50 doing a sponsored litter pick.
Please remember to update the office if your contact details change. We have had a few cases of having wrong addresses where parents have forgotten to tell us they have moved! You can send an email to parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk or click the link and complete pupil change of details form https://www.hwis.hants.sch.uk/general-forms/
Please be aware that school finishes at 2.15pm on Thursday 21st July 2022 – this is a change due to the extra bank holiday in May half term for the Queen’s jubilee. School staff are owed a day in lieu of this.

The Year R children have had great fun making up their own stories and recording them. We have been learning about 3D shapes and their properties. The children have loved making their own flap books. They were so excited after going on an adventure with Lucy from Perform.
Word of the Week: rough
Maths Word of the Week: more
The Year 1 children have had an amazing end to creative week by having the chance to look at each classes work. What a fantastic range of work there was! Squirrel class have made pop-up books. Fox class have written ‘Hello, Little Bird’ poems and Otter class have written about their best place in the world. In maths the children have been learning about subtraction. They can use equipment and pictorial representations to show how they worked out their answer. They have also been using their knowledge of counting backwards to help them.
Year 2 have had a busy second week of ‘Creative Fortnight’. This week we have finished our story books and made illustrations and a front cover to make it more appealing for our readers. We also produced some art work using a combination of paint, crayons, pastels and coloured pencils. On Tuesday we had a drama session which was great fun. In Maths we have started our new topic which is Time.

General News and Information:
Please be advised that DFE guidance informs us that if a child displays any coronavirus symptom (cough, temperature or loss of taste/smell), we must send the child home and ask them to follow the guidance and get them a PCR test. The child must isolate until a negative result is given when they are able to return to school if they are well enough. If the result is positive they must isolate for 10 days but can return to school if they have a negative LFD test on days 5 and 5 and do not have a temperature.
Remember that LFD testing is for people who are asymptomatic. If anyone within your household develops symptoms, you must book at PCR test by either phoning 119 or booking online: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test

HC3S have launched a new parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Have a lovely weekend. J
Take care and stay safe.
