Could we please ask you to leave the school site promptly at the end of the school day once you have collected your children. Magna need to access the playground with the after school club. Thank you.
Reminder: Please do not play football or any ball games on the playground after school. There have been occasions when balls have been kicked into toddlers and pushchairs.
Bikeability- Unfortunately we are unable to run Bikeability at this time, we hope to be able to offer it in the future. Thank you so much to all those parents/carers that completed the questionnaire.
Friday 26th May 2023 is Inset Day. School closed to children.
Sports Day will be on Friday 30th June .
This week in Year R we have been learning all about Mary Anning. We have learnt all about her interesting life and had the opportunity to explore fossils. We googled Lyme Regis and found out lots of fun facts. The children have been paleontologists and have tried to free chocolate chips from cookies! They have been working on their masterpieces ready for the museums that will open next Wednesday 24th May from 3.15-3.45. Please pop in and have a look at all the exciting things we have been up to this half-term.
Maths word of the Week-double
Topic Word of the Week-fossil
Year 1 have continued to learn about Castles and are very excited for Castle day next week. This week the children have learnt about the difficult job of being a knight. We have learnt about their armour and how it protects them. Do you know what a gauntlet is and which part of the body it protects? In writing the children have written a diary of a knight and have thoroughly enjoyed getting in to character ready for their knight training next week. In maths we have been learning about fractions. The children have learnt to recognise and find ½ or both shapes and quantities. They have use practical resources to help them and now understand that ½ of any whole must be 2 equal parts. In PE, each class have come up with their own medieval dance to teach you if you are attending out Castle day morning.
The word of the week is Royal.
This week Year 2 children completed their end of key stage one SATs (Standard Assessment Tests). We are very proud of the effort and perseverance shown by the children during this time. They also spent the week completing a DT project all about vehicles. They began by making different types of axles (fixed and free) before going on to design their own vehicle. They then used their new skills and knowledge to create their own vehicle. The week ended with an exciting ‘race off’ to see whose vehicles travelled the furthest.

General News and Information:
If your child does not eat certain foods due to religion reasons or personal preference, please ensure they know what lunch option they are choosing every day before they come in to book it on the whiteboard. There have been a few occasions when children have inadvertently selected the wrong meal choice. Children with allergies are identified by wearing a different coloured wrist band and have their meals cooked according to their special menu.
HC3S have a parent portal where they can register children needing special allergy school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information by clicking on: https://specialdiets.hants.gov.uk/
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Unfortunately not the ones with chocolate chips.
