General Reminders:
Thank you for your understanding regarding our staffing absences/methods of covering this week. We hope the staff who have been unwell are feeling better and have a restful weekend.
This week Year R have participated in their first whole class PE lesson in the hall. They all thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Thank you for remembering to send them into school in their PE kits.
Year 1 have had a visit from Openbox theatre company this week. We have learnt all about the Titanic and the passengers on board. Ask us how many busses long the Titanic actually was…. It was a very big ship!! In maths the children have been looking at teens numbers and making them with equipment- they are pretty good at this now.
This week Year 2 have finished their non-chronological reports for the Year 1 and 2 children and have been using number lines to help them solve addition questions. They have started learning about Brazil and have compared it to England. They have also been learning about the work of Henri Rousseau.
We have successfully recruited a new Senior Admin Assistant who has started working part time with us. Her name is Mrs Jolene Riakiotakis but she will be known as Mrs R as she understands her surname is a tricky one to spell and pronounce. Mrs Thomas will continue to work in the office part time until Mrs R starts full time and we are very grateful for this.
Also don’t forget to follow our Facebook page…we will try to share important events, dates and things that have happened in school……don’t forget to share with your friends and family!

General News and Information:
Please be advised that DFE guidance informs us that if a child displays any coronavirus symptom (cough, temperature or loss of taste/smell), we must send the child home and ask them to follow the guidance and get them a PCR test. The child must isolate until a negative result is given when they are able to return to school if they are well enough. If the result is positive they must isolate for 10 days.
Remember that LFD testing is for people who are asymptomatic. If anyone within your household develops symptoms, you must book at PCR test by either phoning 119 or booking online: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
HC3S are launching a new parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Have a lovely weekend. J
Take care and stay safe
