Year R have been looking very closely at toys and making observational drawings. They are looking forward to painting them with watercolours next week. We have also been looking at wash day in the past and how hard it was. We are glad that washing machines have been invented! Bumblebee class have had great fun cooking on the fire today.
Year 1 have had a fantastic time this week. They have all had the opportunity to try a chocolate fondue with dipping fruit and marshmallows. Each class was split in half to light the fire and melt the chocolate in the wildlife area. In maths the children have been learning about 2d shapes and have also been outside on a shape hunt. Ask your child what 2d shapes they know already. In Art, year 1 have been sketching winter trees and have been using pencil and shading techniques to create different effects. The concept word of the week is half.
This week Year 2 have been finishing their diary writing from the perspective of Rainbow Bear and they have earned lots of dojos for including things like capital letters, full stops, adjectives, adverbs and conjunctions. In Maths, the children have been paying for items using different combinations of coins. We have realised that you can pay for the same amount in lots of different ways! In the afternoons we have been learning about the Antarctic and have been finding out about the animals that you might find there.
Also don’t forget to follow our Facebook page… we will try to share important events, dates and things that have happened in school… don’t forget to share with your friends and family!

General News and Information:
Please be advised that DFE guidance informs us that if a child displays any coronavirus symptom (cough, temperature or loss of taste/smell), we must send the child home and ask them to follow the guidance and get them a PCR test. The child must isolate until a negative result is given when they are able to return to school if they are well enough. If the result is positive they must isolate for 10 days.
Remember that LFD testing is for people who are asymptomatic. If anyone within your household develops symptoms, you must book at PCR test by either phoning 119 or booking online: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
HC3S have launched a new parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via firstname.lastname@example.org
Have a lovely weekend.
Take care and stay safe.
