General Reminders:
If a member of your child’s household tests positive, we ask that arrange a PCR test keeping them at home until the test result is confirmed.
The play equipment must not be used before or after school as our insurance is not valid.
Please send your child in with a sun hat and also a coat as the weather has become unpredictable.
Children to come into school wearing their PE kits on the days they have PE (Year 1 – Mon & Wed, Year 2 – Tues & Thurs).
We are a nut free school but are also becoming a shellfish free school due to staff and children allergies. Please do not send shellfish or nut products within your child’s packed lunch.
We currently have vacancies for parent Governors to support our Governing Body. Please submit an application if you feel you have the skills that could support our team.
Year R have been accessing the playground and have learnt the rules for being outside during ‘busy time’. They have enjoyed playing in the mud kitchen and with the new water wheel ….. although some have been a little too enthusiastic and have got rather wet. The Year R drop-in planned for Thursday afternoon has not had a great take up in bookings. Please book your slot by Monday. If numbers remain low, we may cancel the event.
Year 1 have been enjoying the lovely weather in their outdoor provision and digging for treasure in the sand! On Monday we found a letter in our classrooms from captain Blackboots. He was looking for his treasure chest and gave us some clues to find it. We went on a treasure hunt and found the chest- why don’t you ask your child what they found? In maths the children have been looking at place value to 10 and 20 using equipment- the teachers have been very impressed with their knowledge. In science we have been looking at materials and what different things around the classroom are made of. Your children have astonished us by using our word of the week ASTONISHED!
Year 2 have been learning about different types of sentences and have been partitioning numbers into tens and ones. In our Science lessons we have been hunting for minibeasts in different microhabitats and in Geography we have used atlases to locate and name the 5 continents. Ask your child to sing you the continents song.
We start our Parent tours for Admissions 2022 the week after next. If you know anyone who would like to visit, please ask them to log onto the website to book a tour.
Mrs Thomas is leaving the School Office and is currently working some hours to help us until we are able to recruit someone new. We will try to answer the phones and emails as soon as we can - sorry for any delays.
Also don’t forget to follow our Facebook page…we will try to share important events, dates and things that have happened in school……don’t forget to share with your friends and family!

General News and Information:
Please be advised that DFE guidance informs us that if a child displays any coronavirus symptom (cough, temperature or loss of taste/smell), we must send the child home and ask them to follow the guidance and get them a PCR test. The child must isolate until a negative result is given when they are able to return to school. If the result is positive they must isolate for 10 days.
Remember that LFD testing is for people who are asymptomatic. If anyone within your household develops symptoms, you must book at PCR test by either phoning 119 or booking online: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
HC3S are launching a new parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Have a lovely weekend.
Take care and stay safe.
