Just a quick note to say THANK YOU for your understanding when you have received calls about collecting your children who are unwell. Things have been really tricky, particularly over the past few weeks, as we have been getting more confirmed Covid-19 cases in school. We continue to sanitise and clean to try to keep the virus at bay. We are doing all that we can to keep everyone as safe as we can. The risk assessment will be revised over half term and additional measures may be introduced if the number of cases continues to increase. This is not something we would do without significant thought and deliberation.
The Year R and 2 parent’s evenings were a great success with almost full attendance. Thank you for your understanding about it being an adult only event. We are still trying our hardest to minimise visitors in school to try and keep everyone as safe as we can especially in light of the amount of sickness we have in school.
Miss Castle is getting married on Saturday. We wish her and her husband-to-be an amazing day. Another change of name to get used to as she will return as Mrs Page.
FOHWIS raisin challenge raised £205 – thank you for supporting us.
Opportunity to access some parenting workshops. Click on the link:

This week, Year R have been making zig zag books and have met the characters that will be in their newly allocated reading books. They also celebrated Beep Beep day, learning about road safety and holding a grown-up’s hand when crossing the road as well as decorating traffic light biscuits. They were very tasty!
Year 1 have had a lovely week filled with the excitement of class charters. Squirrel class were very cozy in their PJs and enjoyed watching a film with their teddies. Fox class loved playing each other’s board games and were very good at taking turns and sharing. Otter class made bunting for Miss Castle’s wedding and boogied away at their own wedding party. Year 1 have also been busy making special designs using their finger prints for the FOHWIS Christmas cards.
This week, Year 2 have written their own rainforest poems, it’s amazing how creative they have been. In Maths they have been doing further work solving subtraction questions on a structures and unstructured number line.
We have successfully recruited a new Senior Admin Assistant who has started working part time with us. Her name is Mrs Jolene Riakiotakis but she will be known as Mrs R as she understands her surname is a tricky one to spell and pronounce. Mrs Thomas will continue to work in the office part time until Mrs R starts full time and we are very grateful for this.
Also don’t forget to follow our Facebook page…we will try to share important events, dates and things that have happened in school……don’t forget to share with your friends and family!
INSET Days for 2021-2022
General News and Information:
Please be advised that DFE guidance informs us that if a child displays any coronavirus symptom (cough, temperature or loss of taste/smell), we must send the child home and ask them to follow the guidance and get them a PCR test. The child must isolate until a negative result is given when they are able to return to school if they are well enough. If the result is positive they must isolate for 10 days.
Remember that LFD testing is for people who are asymptomatic. If anyone within your household develops symptoms, you must book at PCR test by either phoning 119 or booking online: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
HC3S are launching a new parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via email@example.com
Have a lovely half term break. J
