General Reminders:
This week Year R have been accessing the corridor and have learnt the rules for being inside during ‘busy time’. They have enjoyed playing in the role play, using the computers and the woodwork tools. They have been taught to put on safety googles and to use a hammer and nails. They have also been taught to make their own playdough. You may have some keen children looking to use your tools and the kitchen this weekend!!
Year 1 have been requested by Captain Blackboots to be part of his crew on his pirate ship. We have practised pirate jobs ready for this including climbing the rigging, scrubbing the decks and looking out for other pirates through the telescopes. In maths, Year 1 have been securing their knowledge of whole part parts and numbers to 10. Our word of the week is worried, we have talked about what it means to be worried and feeding our worries to the worry monster.
This week Year 2 were asked to write a non-chronological report all about ourselves for the Year R and Year 1 children. We learnt about the main features of a non-chronological report and then started our important task. In Maths we have learnt how to work out 1 more and 10 more than a number and looked at different ways of showing this. In the afternoons we learnt about the different layers of a rainforest, looked at different world habitats, composed a dance about the circus and thought about different ways of expressing and dealing with our emotions.
Mrs Thomas is leaving the School Office and is currently working some hours to help us until we are able to recruit someone new. We will try to answer the phones and emails as soon as we can - sorry for any delays.
Also don’t forget to follow our Facebook page…we will try to share important events, dates and things that have happened in school……don’t forget to share with your friends and family!

General News and Information:
Please be advised that DFE guidance informs us that if a child displays any coronavirus symptom (cough, temperature or loss of taste/smell), we must send the child home and ask them to follow the guidance and get them a PCR test. The child must isolate until a negative result is given when they are able to return to school if they are well enough. If the result is positive they must isolate for 10 days.
Remember that LFD testing is for people who are asymptomatic. If anyone within your household develops symptoms, you must book at PCR test by either phoning 119 or booking online: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
HC3S are launching a new parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Have a lovely weekend. J
Take care and stay safe.
