IMPORTANT Health and Safety notification: On Monday 22nd November, we are due to have some solar panels installed above Owl and Hedgehog Classes on the flat roof. There will be scaffolding around the classrooms on the playground to enable to site staff to access the roof. A clear entrance into the classrooms will be maintained. The work is expected to take three days to be completed.
MENU CHANGE - Next Tuesday, due to supply issues, it will be a vegetarian burger instead of a vegetarian sausage.

General Reminders:
Year R have been thinking all about the past this week. Thinking about what school was like, bath time and dressing up in clothes from the past. They had great fun playing games from the past. Their favourite games were ‘Pick Up Sticks’ and Hopscotch. We have also been talking about Children in Need and making our own glittery Pudsey Bears.
This week Year 1 children have been thinking about what they would like to find out about chocolate. We had some very interesting questions! In maths we have been problem solving using number bonds to ten. We had to share 10 pieces of chocolate in different ways between 2 people. Ask your child what was the fairest way. We had a fantastic day today in our PJs for children in need and the children enjoyed working with their teddies. Our concept word of the week is enough.
This week Year 2 read the next part of The Rainbow Bear and were saddened to learn that Rainbow Bear has been captured. They have started to write a diary entry from the perspective of Rainbow Bear. In Maths they have been counting in 2s, 5s and 10s and have now moved on to learning about money. It would be really helpful if you could get out some coins at home and play ‘shops’. Do they understand the value of different coins and can they use coins correctly to pay for different items? In the afternoon Year 2 had a lot of fun using different senses to complete different practical Science experiments. They even got to use their sense of taste to guess what flavour jelly beans they were eating!
Also don’t forget to follow our Facebook page… we will try to share important events, dates and things that have happened in school… don’t forget to share with your friends and family!

General News and Information:
Please be advised that DFE guidance informs us that if a child displays any coronavirus symptom (cough, temperature or loss of taste/smell), we must send the child home and ask them to follow the guidance and get them a PCR test. The child must isolate until a negative result is given when they are able to return to school if they are well enough. If the result is positive they must isolate for 10 days.
Remember that LFD testing is for people who are asymptomatic. If anyone within your household develops symptoms, you must book at PCR test by either phoning 119 or booking online: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
HC3S have launched a new parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Have a lovely weekend. J
Take care and stay safe.
