The Year R class photos were in the Gazette this week. A form will be sent next to enable you to place an order to buy a 6’ x 4’ photo if you would like to.
The Year 1 parents evenings were a great success with almost full attendance. Thank you for your understanding about it being an adult only event. We are still trying our hardest to minimise visitors in school to try and keep everyone as safe as we can especially in light of the amount of sickness we have in school.
Hello Yellow day raised £360 – thank you for your support of this amazing charity.
The whole school enjoyed a Harvest assembly and sharing some freshly cooked tiger bread in class. They also went to look at the generous donations provided by everyone – Thank you so much for supporting the Foodbank!
General Reminders:
This week Year R have creating masterpieces using paint and their hands!! They have also been thinking about people who are special to them especially their families.
Year 1 have had a message from Openbox and they needed some help. Year 1 needed to make them some leaflets to take to another infant school as they had forgotten all of the information about the Titanic- luckily Year 1 know so much they were happy to help! In maths Year 1 have been looking at the more than and less than signs to compare numbers- these signs look an awful lot like crocodiles- just ask the children. In science the children have been looking at waterproof materials to build a new roof. We don’t think netting would be a good idea! The word of the week is surprised- what has surprised you this week?
This week, in English Year 2 have been learning about the features of poems and planned their own rainforest poems. In Maths they have been thinking about how they can solve 1 less and 10 less than a number mentally and have started to solve subtraction questions on a number line. In the afternoon, they have been sketching and painting tigers in their art lessons and in Geography they helped Fluffy pack a suitcase for his trip to Brazil.
We have successfully recruited a new Senior Admin Assistant who has started working part time with us. Her name is Mrs Jolene Riakiotakis but she will be known as Mrs R as she understands her surname is a tricky one to spell and pronounce. Mrs Thomas will continue to work in the office part time until Mrs R starts full time and we are very grateful for this.
Also don’t forget to follow our Facebook page…we will try to share important events, dates and things that have happened in school……don’t forget to share with your friends and family!
The menu next Thursday will be changing. It will be fish or sweet potato curry or jacket potato with double beans.

General News and Information:
Please be advised that DFE guidance informs us that if a child displays any coronavirus symptom (cough, temperature or loss of taste/smell), we must send the child home and ask them to follow the guidance and get them a PCR test. The child must isolate until a negative result is given when they are able to return to school if they are well enough. If the result is positive they must isolate for 10 days.
Remember that LFD testing is for people who are asymptomatic. If anyone within your household develops symptoms, you must book at PCR test by either phoning 119 or booking online: https://www.gov.uk/get-coronavirus-test
HC3S are launching a new parent portal where they can register children needing special school dinner menus directly. This will give parents more control and direct contact with the catering team. You will then need to make an application online for your child to have a special menu and the school will be notified automatically. If you need to apply for a special menu, please see the information in Letters Home
If your child has a change or existing or new medical condition, please inform us by completing the form which is now available on our website: New or Change to Existing Medical Condition Form
We continue to put our children, their parents and our staff at the centre of any decision making to ensure that we keep everyone as safe as we can at this continued tricky time. If you have any feedback as to how this week has been, please let us know via parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk
Have a lovely weekend. J
Take care and stay safe.
