School Meals
At Hatch Warren Infant School, we believe that the best option for children at lunchtime is to have the hot school dinner, provided through our partnership with HC3S. We expect that parents of children in Key Stage 1 will take up the option of the Universal Infant Free School Meal. This is because we believe that the hot school dinner option is much better for the children’s learning and health. We recognise the evidence that states:
HC3S provide all the nutrients that children require through the week. They produce a menu which has a three-weekly cycle and is available for parents to view.

HC3S
Your school lunches are provided by award-winning caterers HC3S.
At HC3S, our ethos is about tasty food to help your children flourish. And to do that it helps if they eat a healthy diet. By providing nutritious food, cooked fresh every day and which is responsibly sourced, we give your children a balanced diet with choices that aid concentration levels and give them energy to focus and to play.
But we go a step further. We also want children to understand about healthy lifestyles and take this positive message into adulthood. That’s why we’ve created a ripple (not just raspberry) with our ‘Ready Steady Cook’ sessions which are fun and engaging and why we introduced the ‘Food to Flourish Classroom’ to help teachers educate children using food in a way that cuts across the curriculum.
Where opportunity arises, we bring live cooking and workshops to the classroom and sometimes, out of the classroom, through partnerships with our suppliers and other local food organisations. We love schools to join in our celebrations for Nutrition and Hydration Week, British Food Fortnight, and National School Meals Week as key events in the food and drink calendar which are lots of fun.

Free School Meal Eligibility Check
Hampshire County Council Catering Services (HC3S) has an online service so parents can check their eligibility for free school meals themselves.
This self service option is available at: Eligibility check (This is an online link to check your child’s eligibility.)
Please note that the criteria for free school meals is the same, regardless of method of checking eligibility, but for the online service all you need to do is enter your name, national insurance number or asylum number, your address and your child's details. Press 'submit' and you will find out if you are eligible.
If your result comes back 'found', this means your child is eligible for free school meals and the system automatically tells the school.
