Weekly Mailing 5th September 2025

Welcome back everyone!!

What a busy few days!!  The staff have enjoyed getting to know their new Year 1 and 2 classes and the challenges they have set the children have been great fun. It is going to take me a while to remember which children are in which class after the end of year shuffle. Year R staff have met their new Year R children on home visits and cannot wait for them to start school for half day visits from Wednesday.  A big THANK YOU to our new parents for making our staff feel so welcome in your homes. We have had a number of new children join us at HWIS and they have settled well. We would like to extend a warm welcome to these families and I am looking forward to getting to know them all as well as I do the rest of the school.

A reminder to Year 1 and 2 parents that PE sessions start next week so the children should come to school wearing their PE kits on these days. We have reattached the letter so you can check the days.

We have had some work done to the Year R playground by Cala Homes. We thank them for their generosity in completing this work as a community project for free. The new Year R children are going to enjoy using the revamped mud kitchen and the platformed green hill.  Cala Homes are going to replace some benches and also some fencing too as well as provide us with a shaded canopy. If you know of any companies that would be able to get involved, voluntarily, in some small community projects in our school grounds, please ask them to email parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk

Additional reminders:

  • Please walk yourselves and the children around the outside of the car park as we are concerned someone may get home.
  • Volunteers – We are looking for some help to change the children’s library books and some to hear children read.  If you are able to help please speak to you child’s class teacher. You will need to have a DBS to volunteer and these are easy to apply through by contacting the office.
  • We are also looking for some additional banked lunchtime support or learning support assistants. There is a letter to explain the roles. Please complete an application form and return it to Parent.Mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk if this is of interest to you.

Have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday.
