Mailing for Week of 8th November 2019

The children had an amazing time yesterday being outdoors. There were lots of different activities ongoing, including year R fire lighting. We are looking forward to our other outdoor learning days later in the year.

The main newsletter this week has lots of dates linked to Christmas events. Please take a note of the dates coming up.

Year R – The children have started their new topic on toys this week and have been talking about their favourite toys as well as finding out about the different materials they are made from. This is a topic that really appeals to them and they are loving every second of it.

Year 1 – Year 1 have been introduced to their new topic and are learning about the world. This week’s focus was finding out about the continents of the world. They also started a study about trees and have been out and about around the school site.

Year 2 – The children are focusing on the Bog Baby story and they are making clay Bog babies. They have also been having a go at Bollywood dancing which they found great fun!

General

What a busy but fun week! The children loved outdoor learning day and were buzzing from the experience of being in the tents, doing trails…..and the best bit having hot chocolate and marshmallows!! We will look to do more things like this as the children were so engaged.

Dates for Christmas performances and other events at the end of term are included in the newsletter so you can plan ahead.

The FOHWIS have applied for some funding through Aviva to purchase a water wall for Year R….they need your votes by the 20th November….please read the letter in the mailing and vote.

Bookbags – please can we ask that the children do not have long straps on their bookbags. We are finding trailing straps when on pegs or hanging out of drawers and there have been several near misses of people tripping.

SHOEBOXES – Thank you for your amazing shoebox contributions. They were collected by the Rotary Club on Tuesday who were extremely impressed and very grateful J
