School information
Hatch Warren Infant School will follow instructions from Department of Education on the COVID-10 (Coronavirus) and Public Health England.
Currently the advice is that no school should be closed in response to a suspected or confirmed COVID-19 case unless advised to do so by the Public Health England.
Mrs Sue Boorman and Miss Kirsty Shaw will contact Department of Education and Public Health England for advice and instructions.
Hand Washing Regime
Below we have identified four times during the school day where the children will need to wash their hands. We are also very aware of the impact this will have in class with regards to timings but it is important we do this. We have a responsibility and duty of care to do the very best for our children in reducing and helping to 'contain' the outbreak.
Classes will follow the plan below:
Times children must wash hands:
1. On arrival in the classroom
2. Before break /snack
3. Before lunch
4. Before end of day.
Children will also be reminded of the importance of washing hands after going to the toilet and if coughing or sneezing into their hands.
Classes will use the link to teach children how to wash their hands effectively. (Newsround Page https://www.bbc.co.uk/newsround/51698180)
Staff must wash hands frequently at school.
Visitors to School
We will ask all visitors to clean their hands with antibacterial gel when they arrive at school. If supplies run out, visitors will be asked to wash their hands and will be escorted to the adult toilets to ensure safeguarding.
School Closure Decision – Out of Hours
If the school is to be closed because of the coronavirus, outside of school hours, the snow chain telephone action plan will be put into place to inform staff members. A text message will go out to parents/carers to inform them that the school is closed. It will also be posted on the school website. The length of time the school will be closed will be determined by Public Health England and Department of Education. The school will keep everyone informed by text/email messages.
A link to the Department of Education will be sent to parents for government guidance.
Illness
If your child has:
please keep them at home and isolate them for 3 days. If your child has a positive LFD they should isolate.
Do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital. You do not need to contact 111 to tell them you're staying at home.
Please ensure you let us know by leaving a message on our answerphone or an email via parent mail (parent.mail@hwis.hants.sch.uk )
Emergency School Closure Decision – During School Hours
If the government advises that the school should close during school hours we will inform parents by text message that they will need to collect their children as soon as possible.
If a parent cannot collect and need to send an alternative person to collect, they must let the school office know who this person will be. The office will then pass this information onto the class teacher.
Children will be collected form their classrooms where possible. Where not possible, TAs will wait at the usual exits and will collect children from class rooms as their parents arrive.
Coronavirus Case Found in School
In the event that cases of the coronavirus are found in school, we will follow instructions from the Department of Education and Public Health England. The school will continue to be deep cleaned by staff members.
If any staff members, pupils or parents/carers thinks they have symptoms of the coronavirus, they should call NHS 111 for advice and follow the UK Government advice for childcare or educational settings gov.uk/government/publications/guidance-to-educational-settings-about-covid-19
Parents/Carers can visit NHS.UK to find out more information. Teachers and support staff should follow the UK Government advice.
Staff members/parents/carers/pupils must inform the school if they think they have the coronavirus or returning from countries with specific lockdown areas.
